The New Mayor Pledges a 'New Era' for New York City in Inaugural Speech
On his first day in office, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “transform” New York City, declaring “a different age” and an ambitious beginning to his administration.

The 34-year-old figure, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the inaugural to be sworn in using the Islamic holy text.

Mamdani now faces one of the most unrelenting jobs in American politics, with a agenda including:
